A Fresh Start....

I think I will give this blog another try - if nothing else as a way for me to try and keep up with some of the blessings that God sends my way.

Hoyt and I have always loved camping and being on the water.  It has always been a dream of ours to one day have our own place near the water.  I always thought that we would retire one day and simply spend more time camping.  As I have learned several times, just because I thought something would work out one way, didn't necessarily mean that would be the way that God wanted it to work out!

We had been looking at land on the water off and on for several months.  One day when Hoyt got off work before I did he went to look at some land he had heard about that was for sale.  A lot or two down from where the land was, he pulled in to a driveway of a home that had been foreclosed on just to see what the view of the water would look like.  After telling me about the house we decided to ride back up and take another look around.  When we got there, Blake tried one of the doors and we couldn't believe it but it wasn't locked.  Of course, we all went in and looked around.  At first glance, we just decided that this was not the house for us.  The view was beautiful, but it just wasn't what we thought we wanted in a house.

God had other plans!  Over the next week or so Hoyt and I went back several times and looked at the house.  We continued to pray that God would lead us in the direction that He wanted us to go.  Be careful what you pray for because you might just get an answer you didn't really expect.  We began to hear and see the signs that God was giving us.  Some of the signs included the price dropping significantly in a weeks time, the house had more than enough land with it to build the building for SonRise that we knew God wanted us to build, the deer we saw on the property each time we were there, and the big cross that the neighbors had built in the yard next door.  Those are just a few of the signs that God gave us.  We both had such a peace about the house that we knew this was where God wanted us to move.  We made an offer on the house and the bank accepted! He has truly had His hand in all of the steps that we have made towards buying this house.  Now we are waiting on a closing date so that we can sign the papers and move.

We are living in a sea of boxes at home right now.  It is amazing the things that you collect over time.  I've made so many trips to the Goodwill store I am surprised they haven't put me on their payroll yet.  Of course, there are a few things we want to do at the new house to make it our own.  Overall, the house is in great shape and just needs a little TLC.  I will try to post before and after pictures as we add our touch to the house.

Please keep us in your prayers as we begin the next chapter and the next season in our lives.  Here is a picture of the house before we have done anything to it:

I forgot to mention that we now have a house in Hokes Bluff/Fords Valley for sale and the brand new camper that we bought in October is for sale!  Let me know if you need more information on either!

I am Blessed!

Welcome

Welcome!

I'm very new at "blogging" and not real sure what I am doing.  I've wanted to start a blog for a while now but I just didn't think anybody would want to read about what was going on in my little world.  I just hope that maybe somewhere along the way I can help someone by sharing what's on my heart.

About my blog's name - Blessed - God has blessed me more than I could ever imagine or deserve.  That's one of the best things about God's love.  He freely gives it to us even though we don't deserve it.  All we have to do is call upon Him and He will hear us.  How amazing is that?!

I have a wonderful husband - Hoyt and some fantastic children - Blake, Ashley, and April.  Blake just graduated from Jacksonville State with an Elementary Education degree and is engaged to be married to a precious girl that we love - Leah Cottingham.  Ashley is working on her PhD at the University of Alabama, and April recently graduated from Jacksonville State with a Masters degree in Finance.

God has blessed me in so many ways and with so many things that there is no way I could ever list them all.  I'm sure that I will blog about many of them in future posts.

Stick around and come back to visit soon!
